Editing and Proofreading Services
TURNAROUND TIMES
All prices are in US Dollars. As of 1 January 2025, there will be changes to fees on selected services. Please email us for a list of the updated fees. The fees listed on the website will be updated on 29 December 2024 (US time zones).

All payments are taken through WIX Payments with Stripe. You can use all your usual payment cards and this has a set transaction fee of 3.7%. This has not been built into the KLS fees and will be added to your fee total.

A late payment fee of $35 will be added for every seven days payments are late.
​

Please note if English is not your first language or your writing requires a considerably heavier edit there may be extra charges for editing.
Turnaround times are generally two weeks depending on which service you are booking and your word count. For manuscripts longer than 90,000 words extra time may be needed. Some services such as graphics packages have shorter turnaround times with The Total Package having a longer turnaround time due to it being two layers of editing/proofing. These will be set in your Literary Services Agreement.
RUSH FEE
If you need your work turned around quicker than the standard turnaround times, there will be a 10-20% rush fee added to your invoice. If the rush fee comes to less than $50, a flat rate of $50 will be charged instead. Please discuss the deadline you are working toward with us at the time of booking, we will do our best to accommodate your needs and will inform you of the rush fee for your project before any work begins.
REFERRAL PROGRAM
If you refer a new author to KLS and they book and complete any of our services, you will receive a free Facebook or Instagram graphics package. See our Graphics Packages page for details.

The Total Package

Developmental or
Content Editing

Our developmental editor will take a close look at the “big picture” elements of your book. This can include but isn’t limited to: plot, characters, themes, pace, structure, and tone.

You can ask specific questions, and they will offer options where appropriate to strengthen your manuscript.

Feedback will be given through in-line comments and you will also receive a detailed Developmental Editing Notes report.

If you need support with rewrites this can be discussed with your developmental editor and a quote for this work will be given on a project-by-project basis.
